This is a heartbreaking moment when a woman's hair is lit by flames when she blows out the candles on her birthday cake.

The mother of six, Ana Oosterhouse, was hosting a joint party with her 7-year-old son Hunter in Ogden, Utah, when she was on fire.

When a strand of hair caught fire, the aspiring lawyer leaned over to blow out the candles in front of her family, and the fire quickly spread to her right.

Onlookers screamed to put out the flames. Anna was not permanently injured, but her hair, eyebrows and eyelashes were burned off, and her face was burned.

The cake was decorated with dozens of candles, which caused Anna’s right head to catch fire

She said: "I saw my life flash by before my eyes. It was a very surreal experience, and it happened so quickly.

"I thought I would catch fire, burn my entire hair and burn badly.

"My initial reaction was obviously that I wanted to put it out, but my biggest concern was to make sure that no one else caught fire. That's why I didn't let it go."

"It felt like an out-of-body experience. I didn't really realize what was going on at the time. I am very grateful to my family for getting it out before it burned more.

Anna said that after the terrible incident, she would never put more than two candles on the cake.

She said: "There are 15 children sitting right in front of me. If I drop the cake, it may light up my house, or one of my nieces, nephews or my children."

'This may be really bad. I might end up in the hospital, my house might be burned down, and my family might be burned down by it. When you light the birthday cake, you think these things won't happen.

Anna said that she usually doesn't use so many candles, but can't find the usually numbered decorations she usually uses.

She said: "I had a bad feeling about it from the beginning. My daughter put candles on the cake before the party. Even so, I still thought, "I don't feel right about these candles, but anyway. ".

At a family party in Ogden, Anna celebrated with her 7-year-old son Hunter

Anna's scorched hair lay on the floor after being scorched in an accident on her 34th birthday

"They were singing a happy birthday song, and my little niece was next to me. I felt she was blowing my candle, so I bent down and asked her to help me. My hair came through and caught fire."

'I froze, I was grateful, I was really at a loss at that moment. I just heard "Oh my goodness" and everyone started screaming.

"My husband, sister and younger brother ran up to me and began to slap my hair and face to put out the fire. Fortunately, there was no water nearby.

"It did cause some damage to my right eye because my vision was very blurred. It was painful, and when I looked around, it still felt it burning.

Anna had no products on her hair at the time, and she said that her cheeks, ears and chin were also burned.

Her eyebrows were also "scorched", and her right eyelashes were also burned.

Anna's 35-year-old husband Dylan patted her on the head after catching fire, and hurriedly helped put out the fire.

Anna said: "Everyone was terrified because they thought I was completely burned, and once they saw that I was okay, they started joking.

"My family is a group of jokes. When I came out of the bathroom, they played Alicia Keys Girl on Fire.

'I was relieved, it was okay, so I just smiled after that.

"My family still jokes,'Next year you and Hunter need to have an ice and fire party', and keep saying that I will buy a fire extinguisher for Christmas."

"I may not put candles on my cake for at least a few years.

"Everyone in our family pays great attention to candles now, because you didn't expect these things that might happen."
