When it comes to shampooing and conditioning our hair, we don’t think twice about it. But we rarely extend that same TLC to our lashes. If you’ve spent too long neglecting your lashes, Celebrity Brow Stylists and Founder of Lux Brows & Lashes is here to explain why exactly you should condition your lashes with a serum.

Lashes can become damaged from a range of factors including stress, medical conditions, hormones, allergies, harsh products and poorly performed beauty treatments, like lash extensions. These stressors can result in dry, brittle and dehydrated lashes. The cure? Including a lash serum to condition your lashes into your daily skincare routine will help nourish and nurture lashes through their growth cycle phases.

Growth and lash health go hand in hand. You can’t have longer looking lashes if the health of your lashes isn’t great. If we improve lash health our lashes can become thicker, fuller and longer. You need a serum that not only stimulates the lash hair follicle to grow (keeping the follicle in the anagen growth phase) but also hydrates and conditions the lash hair.

When purchasing a serum, I recommend Peptides, Peptides, Peptides – triple peptides! These specifically help the skin cells of the lashes creating the perfect foundation for healthier, stronger and additional volume in your lashes. Fatty acids also contribute to actual growth, extending the phase of the hair growth and Biotin (a Vit B) stimulates the growth of additional lash follicles.

So, why should we condition our lashes daily? Here are my top five reasons:

Our lashes work hard for us every single day protecting the eyes from light debris like dust and dirt, and making our eyes pop with a lick of mascara, so it’s only right that we hydrate and nourish them to keep them strong, healthy, and looking their best.

Our bodies are constantly changing and going through hormonal shifts, these shifts can impact more than just our skin and mood. Imbalances in hormones from things like puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and diet (‘ing), can also cause a thinning of our lash hairs (and brows). Conditioning your lashes daily can help to promote growth and lash strength.

Dehydrated lashes can also cause lashes to thin and can lead to them becoming brittle. If you’re after full and thick lashes, naturally, you need to hydrate and protect lashes at every stage of their growth cycle.

Hair loss is common for people to experience, especially during times of stress and this is particularly evident with your eyelashes, they can become thin, sparse and fragile. When our bodies are depleted, it can impact lash growth and health. A lash serum, loaded with the right ingredients, can help condition lashes when they need it most.

It’s an interesting analogy, but it’s true! If we want the best-looking lashes for our daily life, we need to give them the right conditioning they need to flourish. Adding a serum into your routine or incorporating a mascara that has a serum included is a step in the right direction for overall lash health.
