There's a false eyelash option for every eye shape.

Wearing false eyelashes is the fastest way to achieve longer, fuller lashes, but just as the right haircut can help enhance your face, finding the right lash style will bring out the best of your eye shape. Below, two mega make-up artists share their top tips for finding the best the false eyelashes for your eye shape and how to apply them like a pro.

'Mastering the art of false lash application takes a lot of practice and patience but the results are instantly unmissable,' says make-up artist, Cher Webb. 'Before any lash application I always curl the natural eyelashes as this makes a huge difference to the overall effect and makes everything look a lot more real and authentic. Most false lashes have a curl in them so ensure your own lashes have a similar bend so there's no gaps and they don't sit apart. I then always go in with mascara to define the roots of the lashes and make sure they are super jet black.'

Here's a cheat sheet on applying false lashes:

1.'When applying lashes yourself, hold the lash with your fingertips or tweezers and place a mirror under your chin so you are looking down rather than looking straight on.'

Cher's Top Tip: 'Avoid closing your eye during application as your eyelid can crinkle as you try to apply the lash and you want your lids to be as wide as possible for a smooth application.'

2. 'Applying the eyelash glue is an art in itself. Make sure it's applied neatly and directly onto the root or spine of the lash to prevent the lashes from getting covered and you only need a very small amount. Let the glue dry a little so it's slightly tacky as this will help the falsie and natural lash adhere together perfectly and not move or slide around. This will also prevent ruining your eye make-up.'

Make-up artist Joy Adenuga also has this excellent advice: 'One of the most common mistakes is sizing. Make sure you measure the width of the false lashes against your natural lash line and trimming off the excess length before application,' says Joy. According to her, beginners might also find a half or corner lash easier to apply than a full strip lash.

Understanding your eye shape will help you work out the best make-up to suit your face, but how do we determine the shape of our eyes? Get a mirror to look at the overall eye and assess its profile.

1.Can you see the whole iris (the coloured bit around the pupil) or is part of it obscured by the lid?

2. Consider if your eyes slant upwards at the sides and how much space rests between them in the middle.

3. Finally, look at the crease of your eyelid and observe if it's visible with the eyelids open.

Once you've determined your eye shape (we've got a full breakdown below), it's simply a matter of figuring out the look you're after, whether its a natural finish or a high-drama, full-volume situation.

Celeb: Margot Robbie, Beyoncé, Paloma Elsesser

Margot has almond eyes - slightly pointed at the ends, with a wider centre where the curve of the iris is hidden by the upper and lower lids. Almond eyes are the eye equivalent of an oval face shape, so most lash styles look great. Show off the shape of your eyes by adding volume with full lashes that are evenly distributed.

These quarter lashes by Huda Beauty are a versatile pick for those with almond eyes. If you're after a smouldering effect, place the lashes only on the outer corners of your eyes. You can always add on if you fancy a more dramatic finish.

Celebs: Charithra Chandran, The Olsen sisters, Zooey Deschanel

If you can see most of your iris, then you have round eyes. This shape should use curly lashes to lift and enhance the curve of your top lid. Avoid heavy, voluminous lashes that make your eye look smaller and flatter. A strip lash that's gradually fans out is flattering too, as it doesn't overwhelm the eye shape.

You can pretty much find any style under the sun with Eylure. Wild & Wispy looks especially gorgeous on round eyes as it lifts the eye without weighing the lids down.

Celebs: Gemma Chan, Liu Wen, Jung Ho Yeon

Mono lids (or epicanthic folds as they're technically termed) are where the skin covers the upper eyelid and no crease is visible. Mono lids look best in fluttery, multi-layered lashes to open the eye.

Whether you're a lash pro or newbie, Lashify will have you sorted. Lashes come in smaller clusters that go on the downside of your lashes, rather than on top for a more natural-looking result. You can layer multiple pieces, use only on sparse areas or mix and match different styles. These lashes are one of the most lightweight ones on the market too.

Celebs: Kristen Stewart, Michelle Obama, Jennifer Aniston

If the distance between your eyes is shorter than the width of one eye, then your eyes are close set. With this eye shape, leave the inner corners free and concentrate on the outer corners to lengthen and lift eyes outwards.

This strip lash flares out on the outer corners to accentuate the eyes without making it appear even more close-set. We love how natural these lashes are (and it's been spotted on Gigi Hadid too!).

Celebs: Ariana DeBose, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lawrence

Hooded eyes have a crease with a prominent brow bone so the eyelid is not clearly visible when the eye is open. The wrong lashes can pull hooded eyes down and make them look small. Try a fluttery mix with long lashes directly above the pupil to really open the eye at the centre.

No smokey eye is complete without make-up artist Joy Adenuga's strip lashes. The sturdy band keeps it in place without weighing down lashes while this volumising design instantly opens up hooded eyes.

Celeb: Zoë Kravitz, Taylor Swift, Bella Hadid

Those with upturned eyes, where the outer corners point higher than the inner corners, are the perfect candidate for a cat eye. No wonder this is one of Zoë's go-to eye looks. For an easy feline flick in seconds, try a flared half lash in the outer corner.

Dial it up or down with these multi-length cluster lashes. Try the longer lashes on the outer corners for a smouldering vibe ala Zoë.

Celeb: Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley

Faces with elegant deep set eyes that sit under the brown bone should accentuate their large eyes. Look for extra length lashes that curl up and away from the eye - this avoids unsightly mascara smudges on the brown bone too.

Make-up extraordinaire Jamie Genevieve knows a thing or two about quality lashes. Pop on these fluttery half lashes to add a little glamour without going overboard.
